About Me
Romans 7:15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
My name is William Ripley
My wife and I have been married over 30 years and we have three kids. I work as a fireman for a mid-sized "Cosmopolitan"city in Texas.
I was raised in the Catholic church, married in the Presbyterian church and attended a Methodist church for 21 years and I'm currently a member of a Southern Baptist Church.
I didn't start really studying the bible seriously until about 2005 after I promoted to Engineer at my fire department.
Disclaimer; I have no formal seminary or bible training. I've not lead a sin-less or even near perfect life. I am not a preacher, Sunday school teacher or church leader. The views and opinions expressed in this website are mine and do not necessarily reflect those of the church. I'm not responsible for any misuse or misquotations of the bible by others who may have seen them in this website. I hope I've done a good job but, remember, I am not a preacher. ((Note carefully: No teaching anywhere on this web site is intended or should ever be construed to justify or to in any way incite or encourage personal vengeance or physical violence against any person. ))
How this thing started;
I had been reading for a promotion at work and, for 2 years, studied about 1500 pages of promotional materials in 5 books in order to gain a promotion that would serve me for, perhaps, the next 15 years or so of my career until retirement.
After my promotion I began to think of how little I knew of the bible which is a book that would help me beyond retirement and into eternity.
I listened to the bible on MP3 player several times and began using online study tools to review and dig through the bible for information
I also became a regular listener of Christian talk radio.
I began writing down verses I heard and read that struck home to me.
And I'll be honest, I didn't always like what I heard or read because I was in disagreement with God on how I should live my life. I still am in disagreement but I'm trying to get better.
The verses somehow made their way into a list and onto the computer.
The first list was "Healing Verses of the Bible" which I started because I had a dream one night around 2006 that someone asked me for a bible verse that involved healing and I couldn't think of one.
When I woke up I was determined to rectify that lack in my education. "Healing Verses of the Bible" is meant to give verses of healing, hope and comfort to friends and family suffering from emotional and physical hardships. According to the statistics page on my website builder, Healing Verses has been, by far, the most viewed and searched for page on this website. My guess that a lot of people are in pain and looking for answers.
I had the Verse List idea for my girl and two boys. My thought was this was a way I could actively pray for them as well as point out, what I thought, were imperative verses in the bible for their lives.
This it is a great exercise to become more familiar with the word of God and incorporate it into you life.
