VERSE LIST ON WITNESSING
If I see a movie that I enjoyed, I will tell people about it. Even strangers in the Walmart checkout line. I recently bought a new car (first time in 0ver 20 years), it's a 2016 Ford Fusion, I'll tell you all about that also.
When my kids do something great I spread that story as well.
So, why is it that I am so timid about sharing the Gospel?
I believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven and would really like to see all my family and friends go to heaven also (when their time comes of course). I know some of them won't choose to do so but my responsibility is to let them know.
Witnessing made easy;
(Lay the groundwork by praying in Jesus name that God will prepare you and the people you come in contact with to be receptive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit that they would accept Christ as their Lord. This puts it in Gods hands and takes it out of yours. Remember, you aren't going to "save" anyone, God does that. Your job is to be obedient to the Word of God and tell them of Christs sacrifice for them)
If you find yourself in a conversation and it leads to the question of God, heaven, death or the afterlife.
Ask the person "Have you come to a place in your thinking that, when you die, you are certain you will go to heaven?"
Hopefully they will say "yes", "no" or "I hope so", otherwise the next question seems rather forced if they think heaven doesn't exist.
Then follow up with asking "If you died tonight and the God of the universe asked you 'why should I let you into My heaven?' what would your answer be?"
They may say "because I am a good person", "because I wasn't as bad as Hitler or Charles Manson" or "Because I can't see a loving God sending anyone to hell". They may also say that God couldn't let them in because of something bad that they did.
All wrong answers of course.
Be nice and help them understand that Jesus the Christ is our advocate before God and if we claim his name on earth and make him our Lord and Savior then we are assured a place in heaven.
Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
It's a crazy story
It sounds like a crazy story. Why would the God of the universe make make a planet with a people who were going to screw up so bad that He had to save them over and over until finally he sends His Son (Who is also God somehow) to be born of a poor young virgin girl in a manger of a barn located in a "nowhere" city so He can grow up, be rejected by the people of God He is trying to save, only to be tortured and killed and come back to life after three days in order to forgive us.
We are also told that, somehow, if we believe in Him and accept Him. He can live within us and we will live in eternity in a place called Heaven in the presence of the Almighty God.
The bible has this thing called "The Great Commission" in the new testament.
Matthew 28:16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
One thing I've learned from learning about bible is that I often don't like what it says but it's still the word of God. If I am a Christian then I'm still supposed to do what it says. For example, this quote of Jesus in Matthew 10:32-33
Matthew 10:32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
When I grew up (in the 60s and 70s) I think it was understood among our family that we were Catholic and would go to heaven but it wasn't something you talked about. Religion was a private thing and if you talked about it too much then you were a "holy roller" or a "bible thumper" (which were frowned upon). Although we did say a standard prayer before supper every evening.
I think the name of Jesus the Christ is powerful and it is also divisive.
I've noticed that you can talk to people about God or the idea of God but when you start talking about Jesus, sometimes the conversation gets a little uncomfortable and even fades away.
I think you can either believe that He is the Son of God, born of a virgin, was killed on a Roman cross for our sins, was raised from the dead after three days to give us eternal life ...
...or you can believe He's not. You can believe that, if He ever existed, He was a wise teacher of good morals. Except for the part where He predicted his own death and resurrection, performed miracles, claimed to be the Son of God and that He would return one day in the future. Which makes Him a liar and/or a crazy person....which He's not.
The card at the top of the page doesn't have room for all the bible verses you may want but it has enough, I think, to serve as some memory joggers to help. and a salvation prayer
It also has The Five Essential beliefs of the christian faith to help new believers find a good bible based church to start or continue their journey of faith.
The Five Essential Beliefs of the Christian Faith is something I came across from a 1920's debate on Christian teaching.
A Verse List on Salvation is coming soon...I hope....

The Five Essential Beliefs of the Christian Faith is something I came across from a 1920's debate on Christian teaching.
- “The twentieth century began with a tumultuous conservative uproar over the infiltration of numerous denominations by liberalism. The severity of the situation demanded immediate action. Heretical teachings were captivating and corrupting entire churches, schools and related organizations within multiplied denominations. Therefore, a coalition of interdenominational brethren, following a number of conferences, united around the five 'fundamentals' of the faith. They were:
1. The inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture
2. The deity of Jesus Christ
3. The virgin birth of Christ
4. The substitutionary, atoning work of Christ on the cross
5. The physical resurrection and the personal bodily return of Christ to the earth. - “The adherents to these five 'fundamental' truths were naturally labeled 'fundamentalists.' Those opposing them were called 'liberals.'
- “The men joining together around these five points (commonly called 'the doctrine of Christ') were from varied and diversified religious backgrounds. Thus, this amalgamation of 'first generation fundamentalists' included Presbyterians, Baptists, Reformers, Reformed Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, Anglicans, Congregationalists, and Wesleyan Holiness brothers. The astounding thing about the members of this interdenominational movement was their love for one another.”
